Good Knife. Handle: Excellent feel, right size & shape. Blade: Sharp, thick and appears to be good quality material. Sheath: Mediocre leather material that probably won't last too long with significant use. Only major problem is that the material from which the blade was forged does not extend to the full length/width of the handle. This means that the handle will loosen over time.

I'm no expert on knives, but holy smokes this is a big knife! Awesome blade. Nice heavy blade material. You could chop down a small tree with this thing. The handle could be better. There are a few decorative brass rings in the handle that protrude a little past the surface of the handle material. These could have been smoothed down flat to the handle. Other than that it's a great deal!

I have about nine other large knives and they all cost way more the this S and W Bowie.I take all of my bowies out and use them around my small farm and this one held up as good or better than some that cost more. You will be please. I liked this one so much, I got an extra for my dad who also has many bowies. It handles very well and has the chopping power of any other knife. If you want a very good knife at a really good price get this one it a great knife at a great price.

This is a pretty knife and it is HUGE. It's great if you want to mount it on your wall. This is not heavy duty. It is made from "Chinese Hammer forged surgical steel" I whacked a rather large branch and I actually put a decent sized dent in the edge of the blade. I guess the steel was not very good. Not a bad price for this knife if it is for show. Invest more money if you are looking for a knife you will carry in the great outdoors or somewhere that your life may depend on it. The saddest thing is this is made by Smith and Wesson. I have a S&W revolver that I have owned for many years with no problems. Too bad they don't make their knives here in the USA too! I hope this helps.

Out of the box, a very sharp and well balanced knife. The blade only took a little finishing on a fine Arkansas stone to get the desired edge. Well worth the money, as it will be a useful field tool for years to come.

Made so that people say "Wow! now that's a big knife" not made to actually use. A piece the size of a quarter chucked out of the blade. I was lightly chopping some pine branches. I was not abusing the knife. Its either the metal or the grind, but its brittle.
