The end of WWII was celebrated with the lighting of beacons, ringing of church bells, street parties and bonfires. Newspapers of the world did a good job capturing those celebrations and were always eye catching with their headlines declaring PEACE. This knife was decorated, with those moments in mind, to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II.

What is the story of the knife?
A KA-BAR is a KA-BAR this knife has been around for some time and is tried and true. The knife continues to be made in the U.S.A. and works as it should. The engraving on the blade was done well and should last until my grandsons are old enough to receive it and hopefully pass it on to their grandsons.
This was a birthday gift for my son's father in-law. He Absolutely LOVED IT. I knew he would.
Got this for my son for his Birthday. It was very well made, everything I was expecting out of it. It came very sharp and ready to use he carried it everywhere on our week long hunting trip right after getting it. If anything to complain about it would be that the engraving of his name could have been a bit larger it was so small an old man like myself would almost need a magnifying glass to see it ok maybe not that bad but for a blade that size it was small, he only has nine letters in his name after all make it a bit larger than someone who has 50 letters in their name.
Was awesome. Perfect gift for a knife collector.
I bought this as a gift for my future son-in-law who is an avid bow hunter; wanted him to have a good all around utility knife. The knife is handsome, well made and nice leather wrapped handle. Only problem is - it's not very sharp. I took it to a knife shop and had them put a better edge on it but did not want to do too much as it would mar the black finish.
The knife was fine but the engraving is way to small thus ruining the knife.
Making a quality KA-BAR product requires the talent of experienced craftspeople performing dozens of processes with precision and skill. Each knife undergoes specific manufacturing processes to ensure corrosion resistance, strength, edge holding ability, and an out-of-the-box razor sharp cutting edge.
Soon after its introduction in the mid-1920's, the KA-BAR trademark became widely known and respected. There have been many versions of how the KA-BAR name came to be, but all evidence points to a letter received from a fur trapper. This particular fur trapper's testimonial turned out to be the most significant ever received by the company.
He wrote, in very rough English, that his gun had jammed and that he had therefore relied on his knife to kill a wounded bear that was attacking him. In thanking the company for their quality product the trapper described using his knife to kill the bear. All that was legible of his scrawled writing was "k a bar". The company was so honored by this testimonial that they adopted this phrase and used it as their trademark, KA-BAR.
