When a pocketbook manufacturing company burned down in 1911, many residents of West Bend, Wisconsin were out of work. Young Bernhard C. Ziegler, a local entrepreneurial dynamo, set out to find a substitute industry for the townspeople. He recruited six other men who, along with himself, each put down $1,000 to incorporate the West Bend Aluminum Company on September 27, 1911.

It toasts well, but you need to watch it because the cheese can cook out of the bread pretty easily. Over all, I really like this item.
