15 Bold Knives with Blue Handles

This post was originally published back in Jan 2016 but was updated in January 2024 to include newer models.

Not fond of all the black-handled knives out there? Well, we’ve got a series of posts for you.

We’re exploring some of the best knives in different handle colors. Knives with orange handles and knives with green handles are already in the bag, so we thought blue-handled knives were in order.

You can find other blue knives by searching at knife-depot.com, but hopefully some of these will inspire your own blue period.

Kershaw Blur

Let’s kick things off with an iconic EDC from Kershaw. The Blur is available in all types of colors and materials.

This version with navy blue scales and black Trac-Tec inserts is quite a looker.

Hogue Ballista I

The Ballista is a real beauty and one of the best EDC automatics to come out in the past five years (it’s not surprise we named it one of the best new knives of 2022).

This version has blue aluminum scales with a drop point blade, but the Hogue Ballista I available in a few different iterations

Spyderco Resilience

Spyderco went through and upgraded some of the knives on its Value Series of folders named after admirable traits. The Resilience is one of our favorites because it’s much longer with a 4.2-inch blade. It uses S35VN steel and a dark blue FRN handle.

Cold Steel Tuff Lite

Cold Steel is best known for its huge folders, but the Tuff Lite may very well be the best EDC Cold Steel has to offer. This small Wharncliffe-bladed folder uses Demko’s Tri-Ad locking mechanism. This version has an eye-catching blue handle.

KA-BAR Dozier Folding Hunter

The Dozier Folding Hunter has been a mainstay of KA-BAR, so it’s no surprise this folding hunting knife continues to receive praise and varied colors.

Before we had the standard version, but this upgraded version with Dozier’s famous D2 steel and tan blade is worth the upgrade.

Benchmade Bugout

When it comes to blue knives, the Benchmade Bugout is likely the knife most people think of first.

This lightweight yet full-sized knife is EDC perfection. The blue scales are made from Grivory that reduce the overall weight of the knife to a mere 1.85 ounces. Its blade is 3.24 inches and is made from S30V steel.

Gerber FlatIron

The FlatIron series has been among Gerber’s best knives the past few years. More recently. Gerber put out an upgraded version with a D2 steel blade and blue Micarta front scale.

It is a dark blue that really highlights the less aggressive yet still immensely useful design of the knives.

Victorinox Swiss Champ, Sapphire

When you think of Victorinox Swiss Army knives, you likely imagine the iconic red scales. The success of the knives has led to tons of variations and colors.

One of our favorites is the Swiss Champ in Sapphire, which has a translucent appearance. This is the quintessential Swiss Army Knife with all the tools you would ever need.

CRKT CEO Microflipper

The CRKT CEO Microflipper is one of the newest model on this, and it’s not hard to see why it immediately commands a spot: it’s downright handsome. There are two Microflippers but the one that’s been getting the most attention is the Wharnie.

This minuscule flipper has a Wharncliffe blade, but the blue aluminum handle makes this knife a real looker.

Case Medium Stockman, G10

There is another more modern Case later on this list, but it’s hard to beat the beauty and tradition of a good trapper.

This Case Trapper has two stainless steel blades and a rogers jig navy blue bone handle.

KA-BAR Corser

For 2021, KA-BAR teamed up with the United States Space Force for a number of interesting models that all have bright blue space-like handles.

KA-BAR brought back an old favorite and gave it new colors and a new name: the Corser. This folder has a unique look and feel with a tanto blade and textured blue handle.

CRKT Stickler

The Stickler is a handsome slim EDC that comes from Jeff Park, the mind behind the other slim EDC the Crossbones.

This model has a 3.38-inch flipper blade and a two-tone aluminum handle. The silver and blue coloration really transform this flipper into a handsome gentleman’s folder.

Case Marilla

A few years back, Case finally went electric by embracing the 21st century and adding assisted-opening mechanisms to some of its knives. The iconic collectible brand actually went a little further and brought some fully modern looking EDC knives with flippers and upgraded materials.

The Case Marilla is one of the highlights, and this blue version with black texturing is absolutely handsome.

Hogue Deka

The Deka followed in the footsteps of the Bugout and offers something very similar. Its bright blue scales are made from a polymer, which cuts the weight down to 2.1 ounces. This model also has a crossbar locking mechanism.

The big difference is the use of MagnaCut super steel for the 3.25-inch blade. This is one of the lowest prices you can get the steel for at the moment.

Spyderco Manix 2

Before the Hogue Deka and before the Bugout there was the Spyderco Manix 2. This knife actually won the Most Innovative Knife of the Year award at Blade Show a long time ago in 2010 for its innovative lightweight polymer scales.

These see-through blue scales are very lightweight and house a ball-bearing lock that acts similar to a crossbar lock.

This is an overall excellent knife even after all these years.

  1. I bought a knife to put in my rotation which has black handle scales. And the location of the pocket clip placed quite a large portion of the knife above the edge of the pocket of my jeans, kinda right in plain site.

So I painted it blue with a slight frosting of white to look like slightly faded blue jeans. Camouflage. Not near as noticeable.
