When you need a tool that’ll tear through anything you throw at it without even breaking a sweat, the latest Badass Knife of the Week is the only knife for the job.

The Spyderco Schempp Rock is a large fixed blade with enticing curves and a seductive design.

We usually start by highlighting the blade, but the shapely handle is something to behold.

Coming from the brilliant mind of one of Spyderco’s most successful collaborators, the one thing you can bet your money on is the fact that the handle will be as comfortable as an old shoe.

With the Rock, Ed Schempp puts his primary focus on creating unparalleled ergonomics, which includes a pronounced finger choil and black injection-molded FRN handle scales. The dropped-handle design aligns the knife with your forearm for a more natural cutting angle.

Although we started with a look at the handle, the blade on the Schempp Rock can hold its weight against any other chopper.

The curvy 6.75-inch blade is an eighth of an inch thick and made from VG-10 stainless steel. It has a slight recurve with crisp grind lines and a top swedge. It may only be for show, but the blade even has the iconic Spydie hole so people know exactly what you’re using.

The full tang knife comes in at an overall length of 12.25 inches and just over nine ounces. Its multiposition sheath includes a G-clip.
