CRKT 5500 K.I.S.S. by Ed Halligan, 2.25" Plain Tanto Blade, Frame Lock, Stainless Steel Handle
The CRKT K.I.S.S. is designed by the late Ed Halligan, who was only the second major knifemaker to work with the then relatively new brand. According to legend, the KISS was introduced at the Shot Show in 1997. Within a few days of the show, a year's worth of the knife had sold out.
So how could one knife help establish a new brand as one of the major knife companies? It's simple.
Standing for Keep It Super Simple, the K.I.S.S. revels in simplicity while eschewing all the bells and whistles found in many modern pocket knives. Instead of adding unnecessary features, the K.I.S.S. is a barebones folder with a lot to offer.
The original K.I.S.S. has a 2.25-inch modified tanto blade with a bead-blasted finish. The 3Cr13 stainless steel is more than adequate as material for the blade and steel frame. That same frame also acts as a locking mechanism for the blade.
When closed, the blade is folded against the minimalist handle with such a precise fit you'll wonder how they do it. Even though the blade is exposed, the design and seals of the frame allow you to carry it around without concern.
Along with a pocket clip that could double as a money clip, the K.I.S.S. is a knife that conforms to your needs. Despite being around for nearly 20 years, the philosophy of keeping it simple is as effective as ever.

Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT), is a Tualatin, Oregon-based manufacturer of knives, tools, and accessories founded in 1994.
CRKT means Quality. All CRKT knives and tools are built incorporating the most advanced equipment and production systems available, and quality is controlled from beginning to end. Knives are built the way they should be builtÂwithout compromising quality in any part of their creation. CRKT accessories are crafted to the same standards as the knives, so that each sheath, for example, lives up to the customers high expectations.
Sport & Work Knives
CRKT continues to "think outside the box" by seeking out new and unique designs and mechanisms, just when everyone in the industry thinks they have seen it all. For example, the company is introducing the tiny McGinnis Shrimp, the
Gekkota Pocket and Golf, the ExiTool, Ta-Bar Tool, Norfork Diver and Whitewater, and Klecker NIRKÂ all exciting and unusual. At the same time, it continues to broaden itÂs traditional knife models, including for the first time, Classic pocket knives, as well as the Centofante Tribute, Carson M4-02 series, and the Delegate and Vertex lines.
More natural and premium materials.
CRKT is continuing to specify the natural and premium materials that are common in the best custom knives, including more knives
with layered Micarta, G10, stag, jig bone, white bone, ram horn, and hardwoods such as thuya root, cocobolo, ebony, walnut, and burl.
CRKT Limited Lifetime Warranty: This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship. If one of our knives ever breaks or fails because of material or manufacturing defect, weÂll replace the knife. This warranty runs as long as you own your knife. Coverage ends if you sell or otherwise transfer the knife to someone else, or if your CRKT knife is modified in any way.

I'm impressed with this little folder, I like the unique design, it seems to be quite sturdy, it was razor sharp out of the box, for a 2.25 inch blade it is quite a versatile little folder. I have used it for whittling, carving, and slicing pretty much everything you would use a knife of this size for. it's not something your gonna open lightning quick, and your not gonna baton wood with it, but as an EDC pocket knife I kinda like it.
nice knife for the office! non knife people do not freak out when i use it to open a box or a letter!
I picked this out at the SMKW in Sevierville,Tennessee for my Sweetheart to give me. I was just looking for a knife with single sided handle slim enough to carry every day to the office. They only had the serrated version, which I prefer, as it is more useful. And I prefer a tanto blade. I didn't know I was getting such a famous knife by such a respected designer. I still have it and now that I am retired, I only need to carry it when I don't want a lot of bulk in my front pocket. It could have been a half inch longer and still be OK. But I wouldn't take it anywhere that it might be confiscated.
