In 1939 Joseph Gerber hired a local knife maker to build 25 sets of kitchen cutlery to be given as Christmas gifts. The knives were so popular that Joseph Gerber left his advertising agency to start Gerber Legendary Blades®. The unique style and high quality manufacturing of Gerber cutlery soon developed wide spread acclaim. In fact, Gerber Legendary Blades are the only cutlery on display in New YorkÂs famous Museum of Modern Art.
From very early on, Gerber collaborated with top knife designers, setting a standard of quality for everyone else to follow. Renowned designers such as Al Mar, Bob Loveless, Paul Poehlmann, "Blackie" Collins, William Harsey Jr. and Ernest Emerson have all designed knives for Gerber. In 2002 this tradition continued as Gerber released the Silver TridentÂ, designed by Chief James "Patches" Watson (U.S.N. Ret.) and Bill Harsey Jr.
Today, Gerber continues to design and manufacture unique, high quality outdoor recreation products. In 2003 we are proud to introduce the next generation of multi-tools: the Recoil Auto-Plier. By constantly utilizing new technology and innovative design to develop new products, Gerber continues to be an industry leader.

I have had this knife for about 8 or so years now. Never sharpened it, never oiled it, never cleaned it. It still opens, cuts, and closes like the day I bought it. I have never had a knife for as long as I have had this one, and I just can't seem to kill it.
This is great knife!!! It just that I wanted the para frame II instead, but it was my mistake... Next time I well make sure to order the right one.
I've owned many of knives but this is the one of the most uniquely made knives I've seen and it came sharp. Haven't sharpened it in 5 months and it is still sharp, I use it every day. Thanks
Functions well and stays sharp. great knife.
Excellent knife. Comes sharpened perfect size to fit snugly in pants and is nice because the blade fits perfectly in its frame for safety yet slides easily to a working position.
This is definitely a quality product its got a solid design, good weight to it. Basically I can not think of a single thing I dont like about it
I like it very much and I think the frame design is sweet. The knife is nicely light weight and has been very useful to me.
It keeps a sharp edge but I've bought two of these from a store here and the points were blunt/ out of true shape.
