The Smith & Wesson Border Guard 2 can take some serious abuse, without even a chance of a complaint. It all starts with the blade. The modified tanto blade is 4.4 inches and made of functional 7Cr17 high carbon stainless steel. Ambidextrous thumb studs adorn each side of the blade, and two blood grooves on one side help reduce the overall weight of the knife.

Made for first-response police forces in such demanding fields as highway patrol and environmental disaster recovery, the Border Guard 2 comes with a feature-packed handle. The black aluminum handle boasts Trac-Tec inserts for a reliable grip in all types of conditions as well as an integrated seat belt cutter and window breaker. A lanyard hole and pocket clip are just icing on the cake.

However you use this knife, you can trust that it has been built to the same standard as is expected by the police and fire crews who use it daily. Like these crews, the Border Guard 2 is built to withstand most anything, remaining functional, capable and professional through thick and thin.

When you need a beater knife that can take some of the toughest tasks you can throw at it, grab the Border Guard 2 from Smith & Wesson.

My first purchase from Knife Depot. I didn't pay attention to the size at all. But let me tell you this: This knife is a monster. It's big and heavy. If you're a larger guy like me, you can get away with carrying it your pocket, but you're gonna know it's there.I took off the clip and it laid a little awkward in my pocket, kinda sideways. BUT, the knife is totally awesome. It's my favorite knife. I decided to keep it in the side pocket of the Jeep. Nice little seat belt cutter and window breaker too. It's a beast, but it's a fine, fine knife.

This knife is worth every penny. I have bought several of them and use them daily for various tasks. At a price of less than $30 this knife is built for being used and abused. Anyone wanting a hefty folder should buy this knife. You won't be disappointed.

3rd best of the knives I own. For the price that means alot. Ya the assist piece came off after a few drops and it's not the sharpest blade in the world but with some time and a decent sharpener it will get the job done. I also took off the already loose pocket clip and attached a paracord lanyard to it. Overall good knife for the price.

This overall is a decent blade. You get what you pay for. Honestly 7CR17 steel is very very similar to 440A steel which is a joke of a steel. It is very inexpensive and yea as I said you get what you pay for.
