SOG built its name on producing top-of-the-line knives that excel in extreme situations. The Flash II is the poster child of the company's goal.

SOG improved upon the highly acclaimed original Flash with a glass-reinforced nylon handle, a partially serrated drop point blade, and SOG Assisted Technology. That means the blade will be deployed and ready for action in an instant.

This iteration of the Flash II features a black finish, which reduces the reflective properties of the blade and makes it ready for tactical use.

Our purpose is to combine advanced technology, imaginative designs and high-quality construction to create products of the highest caliber — products that enhance your life. This is the philosophy you share with us each time you choose a SOG product.

SOG originally stood for Studies and Observation Group, an elite joint services military group designed for covert operations in the Vietnam War. Sanctioned to develop and purchase their own equipment, SOG created a knife for use in one of the harshest environments in the world. It is in the spirit of this elite group that SOG Specialty Knives was founded.

Totally committed to creating the world's finest specialized knives and tools, SOG became the first knife manufacturer to expand its line to include a broad scope of fixed blades, folding knives and multipurpose tools. Each product is created by Cofounder and Chief Engineer, Spencer Frazer. His patented inventions and unique, futuristic style have earned SOG many awards and Frazer the recognition as an industry innovator and premier designer.

Today, SOG products are distributed around the world and renowned for their uncompromising style and performance.

S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) is the brainchild of world famous designer Spencer Frazer: I had this feeling that I could devise a whole new technology to help open a knife blade quickly. S.A.T. allows right-handers to use their left hand equally well to open a folding knife (of course this works the same for lefties). It is also advantageous as well in case someone has an injured hand or is not adept in opening a knife easily. Gary Drake, a top defensive tactics instructor who works with SWAT teams and other special ops, states that unlike a switchblade knife, S.A.T. allows for a positive knowledge of where the knife blade is. Switchblades can sometimes get hung up in loose clothing or not open fully for a variety of reasons. This is a problem for law enforcement personnel. With S.A.T., since your finger is on the knife blade, you know if there has been a mishap and can immediately correct it. There is also the wow factor. We find that people who get used to S.A.T. get accustomed to its practicality and will choose it over other companies' conventional mechanisms.

All of this magic is accomplished with a simple principle. There is a constant force to open a blade and a variable force that wants to close the blade that we call suck back. As one opens the blade the force to propel the knife open becomes greater than the closing force and the blade will open on its own. The beauty of this is that we have come up with several mechanisms to accomplish this, says Spencer. The Flash knives use a piston lock, the Blink uses a lockback, and the Twitch knives use a lockback with a pass-through lockbar. These are just a few of the mechanisms that we are working on that are covered under the multiple patents. Most of the opening springs we are using are high-tension coil springs. These springs work through the entire range of opening (180 degrees). This insures reliability.

Of particular interest is that S.A.T. has allowed us to transform the standard lockback knife, which is one of the oldest known knife locks on the planet, and take it into the 21st century. The simplest designs are sometimes the hardest to figure out,Ãï¿1/2¯Ãï¿1/2¿Ãï¿1/2ÂÂ1/2 according to Spencer, but this is a great one.S.A.T. allows us to use locking mechanisms that are stronger and more reliable than the conventional liner locks and that are easier and safer to use. This is definitely one of the plusses of S.A.T., since a knife is only as good as its lock. Also our locks are much easier to access ambidextrously (we haven't forgotten about you lefties!).

Spencer had the foresight to develop integrated blade locking safeties in conjunction with S.A.T. The Flash Series has a safety engineered into the handle. This prevents the blade from being able to be opened and can be used for extended carry applications. When you see red on the are ready to go. The Blink and the Twitches also have this feature. A slim sliding switch on the back of the knife gives the user additional insurance. This mechanism coincidentally affords one the luxury to use the safety when the blade is in the open position. In other words the lockback can be additionally locked (two locks in one). Awesome!

The Flash series, Twitch XL and the Blink also incorporate our new, patented bayonet clip that allows for virtually invisible carry, placing the knife deep in the pocket. This helps minimize any chance of the knife falling out and being lost. This clip is easily interchangeable from side to side (have we mentioned that we haven't forgotten about you lefties?).

SOG is known for producing high quality knife and tool products. The S.A.T. family of products is produced in the US to extremely high standards & tolerances and is warranted for life.

SOG is enjoying a lot of success lately with its innovative products, S.A.T. being just one of them. S.A.T. has currently been employed in small compact gentlemans knives as well as full size utility folders, but the trick has been to produce these innovations at mainstream prices.

Great USA made Knife! The lock takes a little getting used too, but still a great purchase, will buy another if and when this one ever wears out!

This is a really top notch pocket knife. The mechanism for opening and locking the blade is great, and it even has a safety to keep it from opening by mistake. The blade is razor sharp, and the partial serrations are extremely useful. In all, a great knife for the price.

The KNIFE is of high quality and is processed very well. Only unfortunately, I have used nearly 2 weeks to get the knife by the German duty. The weapon law has become very strict.

I have a small vending business and am always opening boxes.I've been using a car key to start the opening process and knew I needed something more substantial.I don't have the use of my left hand and needed a solution for this problem as well. This knife solves both problems. I carry it wherever I go and use it on a daily basis. It is an in dispensable tool.

This knife has a very well made blade and it functions beautifully! It is excellent for self-defense.

I have purchased many knives and this is easily the best. Its assisted opening is quick and fluid, and even with the internal springs the knife is as light as can be. Another positive is how the bayonet clip on the back allows for the knife to be held very deep in the pocket, which allows for it to remain safe or to be carried without making people nervous.

When it showed up I liked the initial package. I bought it as an everyday pocket knife. the plastic handle.

The S.O.G. flash is an above average knife for the price. The only draw back is the pocket clip, if it gets caught on something it is difficult to bend back into place.

It feels like a much cheaper knife than what I paid for it.

It has a very nice blade, by SOG, holds an excellent edge and is very sturdy. My fault, I guess, that I didn't either entirely understand the knife's description or I didn't read it closely. I am not very happy with all the antics you have to go through to open the blade; the lock, the forward assist.

The blade does not come out smoothly. The handle is made of cheap material it even feels cheap. Overall I would recommend not to buy this knife I should return it but I don't know how to and don't know if I want to take the time to do not buy this knife buyer beware
