The KA-BAR BK5 Becker Magnum Camp Knife is the perfect companion to take out in the field. It can do everything from batoning through firewood and hammering with the exposed steel pommel to feathering sticks and cutting through meat.

Let's delve deeper into what makes this such a solid outdoor knife.

Boasting a long 8-inch blade, the Becker Magnum Camp may sound hefty but is surprisingly spry. The trailing point blade design with a flat grind at 20 degrees makes it highly versatile.

The black-coated blade is made from 1095 Cro-Van steel, which is a carbon steel that's easy to sharpen and very tough.

Its handle scales are comfortable and removable so that you can put your own stamp on this large camp knife with different handle scales. But if you keep the standard handle scales, you won't be disappointed.

Coming in at an overall length of 13.5 inches, the Becker Magnum Camp comes with a heavy-duty polyester sheath that's MOLLE compatible. It even has a slot for the BK13 Becker Remora.

Once you pick up this made-in-America knife from KA-BAR, you won't go on any outdoor adventures without it.

Making a quality KA-BAR product requires the talent of experienced craftspeople performing dozens of processes with precision and skill. Each knife undergoes specific manufacturing processes to ensure corrosion resistance, strength, edge holding ability, and an out-of-the-box razor sharp cutting edge.

Soon after its introduction in the mid-1920's, the KA-BAR trademark became widely known and respected. There have been many versions of how the KA-BAR name came to be, but all evidence points to a letter received from a fur trapper. This particular fur trapper's testimonial turned out to be the most significant ever received by the company.

He wrote, in very rough English, that his gun had jammed and that he had therefore relied on his knife to kill a wounded bear that was attacking him. In thanking the company for their quality product the trapper described using his knife to kill the bear. All that was legible of his scrawled writing was "k a bar". The company was so honored by this testimonial that they adopted this phrase and used it as their trademark, KA-BAR.

I could not be any more pleased with this knife, it is hands down number 1 in my collection. Probably the sharpest knife I've ever bought, I literally shaved with it and it only took one stroke across my skin to take the hair off. Be extremely careful when handling this knife folks, it's that damn sharp!

Seriously sharp. handle could be slippery in wet conditions. Very Happy with purchase !

The knife is well constructed, it is a KABAR, the only issue I have is with the sheath. While it is a good construction and well design, there is a small pouch that is on the front of the sheath that could be used for something but that something is not clear.

Super sharp blade right out of the box and well balanced. The handle material could be less slick, but otherwise an excellent camp knife and would do well as a culinary knife too! I would recommend this blade, but I would also say get some after market micarta or G10 handles.
