Although legendary knifemaker Kit Carson is probably best known for creating the revered M16 series with CRKT, the M4 had become Kit's most consistent selling custom knife since 1990 and for good reason. The knife was a work of art.

To help bring the knife to the masses, Kit teamed up with CRKT for a production model of his knife. That's where the CRKT M4-02 comes in.

This version of the M4 is smaller than the original and the perfect size for an everyday carry.

The knife has a 3.25-inch drop point blade made of 8Cr13MoV steel with a plain edge and a hollow grind. Featuring a bead-blasted finish, the blade locks into place using the LAWKS mechanism to prevent accidental closure when in use.

This version of the knife is the CRKT M4-02W, which is a deluxe model with handsome burled wood scales and stainless steel bolsters. You can also get the M4-02 with a white bone handle and black bolsters or the M4-02S with a stag handle.

Since a knife is only as good as how fast you can deploy it, the M4-02 features the Outburst assisted opening mechanism that allows for quick one-handed opening when the ambidextrous thumb stud is pushed out.

Includes a high-mounted pocket clip.

Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT), is a Tualatin, Oregon-based manufacturer of knives, tools, and accessories founded in 1994.

CRKT means Quality. All CRKT knives and tools are built incorporating the most advanced equipment and production systems available, and quality is controlled from beginning to end. Knives are built the way they should be built—without compromising quality in any part of their creation. CRKT accessories are crafted to the same standards as the knives, so that each sheath, for example, lives up to the customers’ high expectations.

Sport & Work Knives

CRKT continues to "think outside the box" by seeking out new and unique designs and mechanisms, just when everyone in the industry thinks they have seen it all. For example, the company is introducing the tiny McGinnis Shrimp, the

Gekkota Pocket and Golf, the ExiTool, Ta-Bar Tool, Norfork Diver and Whitewater, and Klecker NIRK— all exciting and unusual. At the same time, it continues to broaden it’s traditional knife models, including for the first time, Classic pocket knives, as well as the Centofante Tribute, Carson M4-02 series, and the Delegate and Vertex lines.

More natural and premium materials.

CRKT is continuing to specify the natural and premium materials that are common in the best custom knives, including more knives

with layered Micarta, G10, stag, jig bone, white bone, ram horn, and hardwoods such as thuya root, cocobolo, ebony, walnut, and burl.

CRKT Limited Lifetime Warranty: This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship. If one of our knives ever breaks or fails because of material or manufacturing defect, we’ll replace the knife. This warranty runs as long as you own your knife. Coverage ends if you sell or otherwise transfer the knife to someone else, or if your CRKT knife is modified in any way.

I bought this knife because it looked really nice in the picture. I`ve had it a few months now and it looks even better. It came razor sharp out of the box.It fjust feels real good in my hand. The assisted opening system on this folder is awesome. Just one little flip of the thumb and the blade exits it`s folded position inside the handle with lightning speed. The safety feature on this knife will not allow the blade to close up on you while using it.I like to put a different E.D.C in my pocket every day and this awesome CRKT folder is one of them.

Close, it appears to be a traditional working knife that wouldn't scare most people if laid on a table or handed to a person in need. Snapped open, it shows its teeth to have some seriously sharp and sturdy capability. Oh yes!

Very attractive and well made knife. I've received many compliments. Mainly carry this one on more dressed up occasions so haven't put its utility to the test but it seems very sharp and durable.

This is by far the best knife I have ever owned. It came out of the box sharp, most knifes don't, and it holds its edge. It looks good and feels good in my hand.

This knife is both rugged and beautiful. The blade is so sharp it surprised me. It's my new favorite that I carry often.

One of the best made knives I have ever owned. Liked it so much i bought two. Everywhere I go I show it off, I should be a sales rep for this knife. Kit Carson designs are top shelf and if his name is attached to it you just cant go wrong. So sad we recently lost him.

I purchased two of these for Christmas gifts and they were big hits. The burl wood handles are really neat looking. It isn't a small pocket knife but the size is just right for an above average sized man. Had one recipient remove the clip and the other that preferred to use it. I bought ten knives and these were among the best. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with this blade.

Fantastic knife, one of my favorites. I took off the clip as I do not like them. The opening action is great and the blade arrived sharp.

Nice knife except for the thumb screw to open the knife. It's a little short for my hand which makes it difficult to open. Nice handles on the knife (wood) and nice steel in the blade. Sharpness of the blade was ok, but much better after I polished the edge.

This is a handsome, practical reasonably priced knife designed by one of the many famous knife makers CRKT is known for.

A great looking knife with a good blade, but I sent mine back. It was too hard to open and close. I actually injured my thumb trying to open and close this knife. I think it's the LAWKS Safety System. It slides a small disk against the liner lock to prevent the lock from releasing, however I think it also makes the knife difficult to open and close. It seems to solve a problem that doesn't exist. I have another CRKT knife with the LAWKS and it has the same problem although not as bad as the M4-02W.

Quality seems ok so far. kind of disappointed that this is a product sold under the guise of being a US company, but is made in China. Can we make nothing anymore?

Good knife but .. A/O system outburst not effective (spring very weak) the blade does not open in full open lock position. The liner lock system is difficult to use (unlock the blade). Others features are OK but nothing fantastic. This knife does not worth its money.
