Gerber Gator Bolo Machete with Nylon Sheath
Based on the famous Filipino cutting tool, Gerber's Gator Bolo machete is a real beast of a machete. Its "fat" end works to give you serious forward momentum while swinging the blade so that you can cut heavy vegetation or slice coconuts and melons with ease. You may not have jungle brush to clear in your backyard, but this machete works just as well in less tropical conditions. Made of 1055 carbon steel with a full-tang construction, this machete can withstand heavy impacts with ease, making it perfect for chopping trees or firewood as well. Its ergonomic Gator Grip handle ensures that hot and humid conditions won't slow you down. Includes a nylon sheath featuring a belt loop and d-loop for easy carrying.

In 1939 Joseph Gerber hired a local knife maker to build 25 sets of kitchen cutlery to be given as Christmas gifts. The knives were so popular that Joseph Gerber left his advertising agency to start Gerber Legendary Blades®. The unique style and high quality manufacturing of Gerber cutlery soon developed wide spread acclaim. In fact, Gerber Legendary Blades are the only cutlery on display in New YorkÂs famous Museum of Modern Art.
From very early on, Gerber collaborated with top knife designers, setting a standard of quality for everyone else to follow. Renowned designers such as Al Mar, Bob Loveless, Paul Poehlmann, "Blackie" Collins, William Harsey Jr. and Ernest Emerson have all designed knives for Gerber. In 2002 this tradition continued as Gerber released the Silver TridentÂ, designed by Chief James "Patches" Watson (U.S.N. Ret.) and Bill Harsey Jr.
Today, Gerber continues to design and manufacture unique, high quality outdoor recreation products. In 2003 we are proud to introduce the next generation of multi-tools: the Recoil Auto-Plier. By constantly utilizing new technology and innovative design to develop new products, Gerber continues to be an industry leader.

It was exactly as described.
Strong steel blade, can be razor sharp, very satisfied with the way it handles and cuts.
This is a well balanced tool with the weight correct for the cutting swing. The one draw back is the metal seems a little soft though it maintains a sharp blade for a long period. Even cutting trees with a relatively hard core causes the cutting blade to bend. Good thing is that it is easily straightened out with a hammer and sharpened again. The handle gives a great grip.
Well balanced, good weight to blade. I used this to cut through heavy laurel brush on a dead lake in Clare, MI. I did get a blade ding on outer rounded edge when striking a frozen hunk of laurel brush. This I did not expect and was disappointed in. Suggest carry a small but good file to dress edges while in field. The sharpening groove by factory makes field edge dressing a little time consuming.
This is the 1st Blade I have ever bought from knife-depot.com. 1st machete I have ever owned. Its not bad. Blade doesn't bend much. Handle is grippy enough. Love the sheath. Fits nicely. Seems like good quality steel. I'm no expert though. It arrived at my house in NYC 2 days before the delivery date. Nice. Thank You Knife-depot.com
Average quality. well designed, easy to handle, but the edge it comes with is poor at best, almost looks serrated. not what you expect from Gerber.
