Damascus Steel Limited Edition Fixed Blade Knife w/ Camel Bone Handle
This is a beautifully crafted Custom Made Damascus Steel survival knife w/ Colored Camel Bone Handle. Damascus for this knife was created by forge welding multiple layers of steels into a Solid block called a billet (15N20 &1095 High Carbon Tool Steels). The billet is folded and re-welded several times to produce several layers. Patterns are created by manipulating the steel during the forge welding process. When acid is added to the blade, it attacks the layers of hard and soft steels differently, highlighting the attractive layered pattern in the Steel. The combination of layered hard and soft steel creates blade flexibility, toughness and produces invisible serrations on the blade that aid cutting. The hardness of the Damascus steel is 55-60 HRC on Rockwell scale. The handle is full tang, made of Camel Bone colored red. There are also brass pins spanning the handle. This knife comes with a genuine leather sheath, with a belt loop on one end. This knife is a must have for any hunter or outdoors-man!

This is a beautiful knife, one of six Damascus knives I recently purchased as gifts. All but one were made by the same people and all where beautiful. Another review mentions the handle is "feminine", probably referring to the color. Whether this is from a change in the handle's production or just a matter of taste I cant say, but the red color of the handle was MUCH darker than the displayed photo and blends nicely with the darker profile of the metal. The sheath is crap. Thin material, too tight for the knife. Blade tip when right through it on the second try. The other 4 knives from the same maker had great sheaths, this must have been the only one on hand that could fit the unusual shape of this knife. 5/5 for the knife itself. Plan on getting a new sheath.
This is a nice knife with a keen edge and a balance point just in front of the handle. It will make a decent light duty camp chopper. The sheath leaves much to be desired, however. It's not as sturdy as one would expect for a knife of this heft and does not fit the blade well, which had to be inserted at such an angle as to poke the tip of the blade through the back of the sheath. Good knife, crap sheath. Worth the purchase.
Wonderful blade with great file work. Blade came very sharp on all cutting edges. The handle color was much too feminine for my taste.
