Some manufacturers simply produce knives. At SOG, we create style through craftsmanship. Our purpose is to combine advanced technology, imaginative designs and high-quality construction to create products of the highest caliber  products that enhance your life. This is the philosophy you share with us each time you choose a SOG product.
SOG originally stood for Studies and Observation Group, an elite joint services military group designed for covert operations in the Vietnam War. Sanctioned to develop and purchase their own equipment, SOG created a knife for use in one of the harshest environments in the world. It is in the spirit of this elite group that SOG Specialty Knives was founded.
Totally committed to creating the world's finest specialized knives and tools, SOG became the first knife manufacturer to expand its line to include a broad scope of fixed blades, folding knives and multipurpose tools. Each product is created by Cofounder and Chief Engineer, Spencer Frazer. His patented inventions and unique, futuristic style have earned SOG many awards and Frazer the recognition as an industry innovator and premier designer.
Today, SOG products are distributed around the world and renowned for their uncompromising style and performance.
My only gripe about the one I ordered is that it does not have the "Fusion" logo on it. Now that that is out of the way - I love this 'hawk! Balance is perfect, construction is spot on, and it handled the abuse that my wife gave it, by missing the target and throwing it into the stucco, with ease. This 'hawk seems perfect. I called my shots - heart, groin, NOSE - and nailed 4 out of 5 of them from 15 feet with my "off" shots landing danger close. Then I decided to pop the spike through a 2 inch wooden bar stool seat, which it did with ease, splitting the entire seat in half. I'm still grinning.
In the woods a axe of some type is better than a machete. This is light weight so your more likely going to carry it along, in your pack and with the sheath that it comes with, that's where it should be carried as a survival tool. If belt carry is planned make a heavy leather sheath with a hole for the handle so it can be carried handle down. SOG put their money into the tomahawk instead of the sheath which is fine, I didn't buy it for the sheath . The tomahawk is made well enough to get you through a survival situation in the north woods and then some, chopping small limbs off the bottom of fir trees for help getting a small fire going or help constructing a shelter. This will work better than using a large knife and baton to split wood. The spike can be used to help chop ice for melting water in the winter or cutting down to water for Ice fishing in a winter survival situation. This tool has applications for self defense as a weapon or emergency tool for chopping through a barrier.
The SOG Fusion Tomahawk that I purchased is as good or better than they tomahawk I was issued while I was in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. Thanks for a superb product.
Very fun to use and practical for throwing, chopping limbs, small trees, intimidating your older brothers, and breaking an entry!
It is well balanced, has a nice cutting edge and resistant handle!
It is perfect! So close to what I carried as a LRRP in the '60's!
This is the best tactical (tactical) style tomahawk I have seen to date. Many troops carry tomahawks in the middle east because they are in a bladed society and just the site of it can protect them. If trained properly these are more effective than knives, bayonets and even firearms in close quarters. This weapon is extremely well crafted and designed.
This is an outstanding tool that is built very study and extremely sharp! I would recommend it to any one for light duty chopping or a cutting tool for a survival pack.
Exactly what I was looking for...quality, workmanship and value. Does precisely what is advertised: The Outdoorsman's "Other" multi-tool!
It was excellent service and an excellent product!
I only gave it 4 stars because the first chop the edge nicked. The steel could be tempered more, but since I got it for defense it is a good deal, nice balance and resharpens nice (yeah even the nick came out with a little work). Threw it a couple of times with excellent accuracy and the bashing point does very well at leaving a big hole in what ever it hits. For the money you can not go wrong.
This is very nice. It could cost a little less.
Well I was going to give this a good review but I was throwing it into a stump and it hit the handle because I let it go wrong and the handle broke off.
I purchase SOG knives all the time and they are excellent but this is terrible. First off the blade is so plane looks like a cut out metal object from a factory and the hatchet is extremely small the handle WILL break the spike is awful and no grip. If you want a excellent tomahawk look at the m48 by United Cutlery they sell them here.
