Whether you're batoning wood for a stove or making kindling for a fire in the woods, the only tool you should reach for is the Schrade SCHF64 Froe.

Designed by PreparedMind101's Chris Tanner as the ultimate wood-processing tool, the Froe features an 8.5-inch blade made from 1070 carbon steel, an alloy known for its exceptional toughness and shock resistance. I have never split wood with a tool like this but love it! It works great and I will be getting a few for my brothers who like to camp a lot. Great deal!

Outstanding performance in splitting kindling. Works flawlessly and has perfect grind to break down dry wood. Sharp enough to creat feather sticks on the smaller pieces. Much safer than using a hatchet and saves abuse on your knife. Is e wooden baton to strike.

One might wonder what an old woman who lives in a large city might want with a froe. There's the large street tree in front of my house, which loses branches in a big wind, and the 3 story maple that shades my back yard, but must be trimmed to provide some sun for my lettuce and tomato plants. So I do some wood processing: because I grill my beef steaks, chicken thighs and lamb steaks on my hibachi over a wood fire (no petroleum laced charcoal, thank you). The wood smoke enhances the flavors and I have to fit the wood into my little cast iron hibachi. So...I need a froe, and this one fits the bill.

What a great tool! I would totally recommend this if you are a camper or if you have a fire place or wood burning stove. It's perfect for breaking down smaller pieces of wood. I use it for our fire pit but I am taking it on a camping trip in June. The price is right also. The sheath is very basic but that is to be expected. If you ever break down wood for fires this is a great tool to have

This is great tool to keep in your vehicle or throw in a pack when going out in the back country. No more worrying about should i or should i not use my primary knife to split up fire wood, This fro is designed to do all the wood splitting so you can keep your knife edge sharp for all your cutting and slicing tasks. It is comfortable in the hand and you can use it for much more than just a wood splitting, feather sticks, draw knife , it is a versatile tool., well worth the price and the quality is excellent.

It was a very nice knife, I like to cut Staffs to hike with, this was ideal for the job. The case it comes with is very good also. I usually spray the knife with WD40 as I do with all Carbon steel knives, when I've finished before returning it to the case provided. The knife would also be ideal to chop kindling with. All in all, it was very versatile. Well worth the money.

Beast .... does exactly what it said it would do .splits wood like a hot knife through butter.. only con is the handle is a little thin and vibrations from buttoning wood is felt in my hand. Other than that it's a Great tool.
