In 1939 Joseph Gerber hired a local knife maker to build 25 sets of kitchen cutlery to be given as Christmas gifts. The knives were so popular that Joseph Gerber left his advertising agency to start Gerber Legendary Blades®. The unique style and high quality manufacturing of Gerber cutlery soon developed wide spread acclaim. In fact, Gerber Legendary Blades are the only cutlery on display in New YorkÂs famous Museum of Modern Art.
From very early on, Gerber collaborated with top knife designers, setting a standard of quality for everyone else to follow. Renowned designers such as Al Mar, Bob Loveless, Paul Poehlmann, "Blackie" Collins, William Harsey Jr. and Ernest Emerson have all designed knives for Gerber. In 2002 this tradition continued as Gerber released the Silver TridentÂ, designed by Chief James "Patches" Watson (U.S.N. Ret.) and Bill Harsey Jr.
Today, Gerber continues to design and manufacture unique, high quality outdoor recreation products. In 2003 we are proud to introduce the next generation of multi-tools: the Recoil Auto-Plier. By constantly utilizing new technology and innovative design to develop new products, Gerber continues to be an industry leader.

Down behind enemy lines? Left to fend for yourself? These are the scenarios that inspired the LMF II. Former military man, Jeff Freeman led the charge to engineer this fearless new 10" survival knife. And we field-tested with the troops. This knife is as adaptable as the personnel who carry it. Use it to cut through the skin of a fuselage. Or sever a seat belt. Or egress through the Plexiglas of a chopper. Plus, the LMF II does a slick job cutting firewood and building shelter. The over-molded handle successfully limits blistering. There is complete separation between the tang and butt cap, so the knife absorbs the shocks from hammering and prevents the shocks of electricity. Smartly situated grooves and lashing holes let the LMF II convert to a spear. The low-profile sheath facilitates movement, limits noise, works for parachuting, and attaches to a belt or MOLLE vest. The patented, integrated sharpener means edge retention in the field.
Customer Reviews

This is one of the best survival knives I own !!! Learning about survival in the military taught me what to look for in a good survival knife, and this in my opinion is one of the classics. It is the perfect length, blade steel, and the ASEK system is a real plus. I highly recommend this knife as a all around survival knife for any situation !!!
Quality beyond compare excellent addition to my collection.
The Gerber LMF II survival knife is an excellent choice for an all-around wilderness tool, with just the right approach for a survival knife, simple high quality and necessary features. This Gerber knife exceeds my expectations.
I am a huge Gerber fan, so I wasn't very shocked when I started to use my LMF II knife. There is nothing to dis-like about this knife, and would highly recommend it to any outdoor enthusiast. Very rugged, but too heavy, and with many features, makes this one of my top 5 knives I own.
I took this knife to afghan last year and it was great, the sheath can be fitted for packs, as well as leg rigs or a belt rig so you can take it with you however you want on the go. Its extremely durable, from opening mres to cutting lines to field situations off animals or people. i strongly recommend this survival knife.
This knife is extremely good! I took it on a hiking trip a few weeks after getting it and it would cut anything. It was comfortable to wear and is a great knife.
I own 50 acres in upstate NY ( bordering about 1500 acres of State land ), I have been wilderness camping on the property for over a year ( through one of the worst, snowiest winters I have endured ). My staples include a Gerber LMF2, which I must say is the single most important item I own, other than my fire starter. Along with the knife I always carry my trusty old Ruger .44 Mag carbine and 50' of thin paracord. The Knife has been used to build a structure, spearing fish, cutting ice fishing holes and to skin my dinners.. I would strongly suggest it to anyone who will be using the knife hard.
This is an excellent knife!
I am a person that loves to collect and use quality knives, the Gerber LMF II ASEK fills the bill very well.Every aspect of this knife has been well thought out, from the intragrated sharpening stone in the scabbard,to independent pommel/hammer for the more serious uses.
