The Old Timer 165OT Woodsman excels at everything you throw at it, whether it's hunting tasks such as skinning game or day-to-day things like slicing cables and cutting meat. This purchase is for a friend as a gift. I can only say that I went on Schrade's reputation. Also the appearance of this knife.
Excellent quality, excellent mating of materials. Price point is very reasonable. Highly recommend this knife.
A real "old timer" knife excellent quality and workmanship.
This knife was an excellent purchase. The quality is top-notch, the price was very reasonable, and it arrived right on time, as promised. The knife holds its edge, is comfortable in the hand, and will cut just about anything (including most recently some heavy canvas strapping - my coworkers were trying to use a hacksaw on it; I tried my knife and cut through it like butter!). It also does a beautiful job skinning and dressing game, as it was designed to do... A similar knife at the local Dick's sporting goods store was more than TWICE the price. I would buy from Knife Depot again in a heartbeat.
Typical of Schrade's quality, simple no nonsense working knives, that last a lifetime. My father carried one most of his life,I bought this one for my son
It's an ideal blade for just about anything.. whittling, outdoors, whatever you need a knife to cut something with this blade is nice and thick. It stands up to a lot of abuse yet it feels comfortable in your hand!
This is a great knife!
The knife is very well made, although I hate to see "China" on the blade. I have every confidence that it will perform as well as previous Old Timers I have owned, which were all very good.
They don't make them like they used to, but this is still a solid replica of the older, more durable Schrade Woodsman. The "brass" label on the handle that reads "Old Timer" fell off while just walking in the woods. I wasn't even using it, just cheaper than they used to be. This knife DOES; however, hold an incredible edge.
I would give it a 5 but the sheath is not as good as I think it should be, the blade is fine hard steel which keeps an edge once you get one on it, If you are a hunter or outdoors man buy this knife.
It looks like a great design. I have a BMF that I bought in 1987 and its going strong after 50 outings. I agree with the poster above. I hate to see "China" on the blade too. I will pay the extra money for USA or Germany. Frankly, I think it's unpatriotic to have your products made in China.
