Soon after its introduction in the mid-1920's, the KA-BAR trademark became widely known and respected. There have been many versions of how the KA-BAR name came to be, but all evidence points to a letter received from a fur trapper. This particular fur trapper's testimonial turned out to be the most significant ever received by the company.
He wrote, in very rough English, that his gun had jammed and that he had therefore relied on his knife to kill a wounded bear that was attacking him. In thanking the company for their quality product the trapper described using his knife to kill the bear. All that was legible of his scrawled writing was "k a bar". The company was so honored by this testimonial that they adopted this phrase and used it as their trademark, KA-BAR.

Robert B. from Fort Sill, OKThe knife is perfect for what I do. I'm an EOD tech in Iraq right now, and I bought it prior to leaving country. The knife is perfect for cutting or if I need to probe or dig anything suspicious out.

Laurie F. from Chesapeake, VAI purchased this knife to send to my son, who is a 82nd Airborne paratrooper stationed in Samara Iraq. He requested a combat knife that he could use for various situations. My son basically told me what he needed and this is what I found. He was ecstatic. He told me it was absolutely perfect for all he needed it to do. He could not have chosen a more perfect knife himself. The black matte finish is necessary so that there is no glare to show enemy combatants their location.

Jeff C. from Calvert City, KYThis is a great Ka-Bar knife! It is heavy, has a nice grip, and it's built sturdy.

Gary T. from Caldwell, IDThis Ka-Bar is capable of being the perfect survival tool. Beautifully balanced and ground to a surgical edge with a handle which insures a solid grip. My compliments and thank you.
